Betsy Reeds
Betsy Reeds, a native of Springfield Missouri, has held the
position of second flute with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra since
1997.She is an alumna of Southwestern Missouri State University (now,
Missouri State University) in Springfield, MO. She studied advanced
flute performance in St. Louis, MO with Jacob Berg, Principal Flutist
of the St. Louis Symphony (also past Principal Flutist of the Buffalo
Philharmonic).She has been a featured soloist with the Springfield (MO)
Symphony and with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as
various chamber orchestras, both in Southwest Missouri and Western New
York. She has been a featured soloist on WBFO radio and at several
National Flute Association Conventions. Ms. Reeds is on the faculty of
Canisus College and Daemen College in Buffalo and keeps a private
teaching studio. She performs with The Amberg Quartet and in the
Reeds/Ali Flute and Guitar Duo which toured in Spain in 2001,
performing music from their cd: "Café". Betsy is also a member of the
National Flute Choir, performing on all eight of its cds.In February
2007, Missouri State University, in partnership with the Springfield
Symphony and Ron Spigelman (past BPO Associate Conductor), invited her
back to premier a concerto written for her by John Prescott of MSU.
