Program Description
Maestro JoAnn Falletta opens the program with two rare but gorgeous settings by Richard Strauss. His operas The Woman Without a Shadow and Legends of Joseph are rich with spiritual and human intrigue, offered here in a pair of symphonic snapshots. The program continues with American composer Aaron Jay Kernis' Musica Celestis – a song of angels from the vast beyond. From Russia by popular acclaim, piano virtuoso Anna Polonsky returns to Kleinhans to offer a flamboyant performance of Weber's Konzertstück for Piano in F minor , a 'concert piece' rich in poetic fantasy.
