Patti DiLutis

Q&A

What is your hometown?
San Antonio, Texas

How long have you been with the BPO?
Began subbing with the BPO in 1998 and won the job in 2004

What is your favorite part of being a member of the BPO?
I enjoy the unusual repertoire we play.

What is your favorite piece of music?
I have favorite composers instead: Strauss and Mahler.  I love almost all music but there are certain pieces that upon hearing them totally destroy my ability to function like the 2nd movement of the Ravel Piano Concerto. Saying it is my favorite piece doesn't really describe it.

What other orchestras have you performed with?
San Antonio Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic

What types of music do you like to listen to?
I like any type of music that carries a message or has some kind of depth to it.

Do you play any other instruments?
I also play the piano.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I am currently restoring a house in Parkside built in 1905.  I also like to cook, dine out, read, garden, race cars and buy shoes.

What is your favorite movie?
Cold Mountain

What is your favorite TV show?
I don't watch much TV but I do find myself catching Holmes on Homes whenever I am sitting down. I adore Mike Holmes.

What is your favorite restaurant?
When I want a great sandwich it has to be at Romeo & Juliet's on Hertel. There is just so much eye candy working there. For finer dining, Left Bank is always my first choice.

What do you like best about Buffalo?
The restaurants in Buffalo are incredible, but what really endears me to this city is its people. I have had so many wonderful and fascinating conversations with random people I meet here almost everyday. It's a beautiful place to live.
