What is your favorite part of being a member of the BPO?
Getting to play with such excellent musicians.

What is your favorite piece of music?
It's hard to pick one but I love Elgar's Enigma Variations.

What other orchestras have you performed with?
Louisiana Philharmonic, Rochester Philharmonic

What types of music do you like to listen to?
I mostly listen to political talk radio on NPR.

Do you play any other instruments?
Piano but not very well.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Watch movies with my husband & dig in the garden.

What is your favorite movie?
All The President's Men

What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite show ever was Freaks and Geeks

What is your favorite restaurant?
Bistro Europa on Elmwood

What do you like best about Buffalo?
The architecture is amazing here.


Biography

Catherine Estes joined the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005. Originally from England, She received her Master's Degree from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Richard Killmer and her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where her teacher was Daniel Stewart. Her first orchestral position was principal oboist of the Billings Symphony in Montana, where she spent four seasons. A one-year position in New Orleans as second oboist of the Louisiana Philharmonic followed. She has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra and the Britt Festival Orchestra. Summer festivals include the National Repertory Orchestra, Ohio Light Opera Orchestra, and the festivals of Aspen and Banff. She lives in Allentown with her husband Ron and enjoys teaching private students and performing with the Buffalo Chamber Players.
