This program is a study of adversity providing inspiration for creativity. Using moments of struggle and revolution in history, we focus on individual responses to times of difficulty. Music from Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony and Festive Overture, as well as Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and Hilary Tann’s In Memoriam Tiananmen Square 1989 are included. As with all our education concerts, the curriculum materials and programming are in alignment with NY State Education Standards.
