Formerly known as Community Nights, Community Spotlight showcases school and community groups from across Western New York. All performances take place in the Mary Seaton Room prior to select BPO concerts throughout the season, and enable students the chance to perform at Kleinhans Music Hall, as well as hear the Buffalo Philharmonic perform. BPO Young Musician Scholarship
The Friends of the BPO Volunteers and the Buffalo Chamber Music Society have again partnered to give the Young Musician Scholarships: $3000, $2000, and $1000 and the Silverman String Scholarship- up to three $1500 awards. For more information and to apply, click on the title above.
GBYO Side by Side Concert - March 14th, 2012 at 7:30 PM
The Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra (GBYO) joins the BPO for a unique mentoring experience that culminates in a joint performance on stage at Kleinhans Music Hall. At 6:30 PM the Greater Buffalo Youth String Orchestra will perform in the Mary Seaton Room preceding the concert in the Main Hall. Entrance to the concert is FREE! Come support our talented young musicians.
BAVPA Side by Side Concert - February 7, 2012 at BAVPA, 7:00 PM
For the third year, the Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts will join the BPO for an in depth side-by-side experience for the music department students, while also providing a showcase for all the disciplines at BAVPA including visual arts, media arts, drama and dance. Composer Opportunities - February New Music Festival
Each year the BPO offers young and budding composers the opportunity to work directly with professional composers through residencies, professional development workshops and new music readings. Past guest composers have included John Corigliano, Roberto Sierra, Eric Ewazen, Robert Beaser, David Felder and Steven Stucky. Click the title above for this year's information.
College Connections
Through partnerships with Canisius College, Buffalo State College, SUNY at Buffalo and SUNY at Fredonia, the Buffalo Philharmonic reaches out to young adults in a variety of programming. For special student pricing for all concerts, see Student Tickets.
