The Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra (GBYO) joins the BPO for a unique mentoring experience that culminates in a joint performance on stage at Kleinhans Music Hall. At 6:30 PM the Greater Buffalo Youth String Orchestra will perform in the Mary Seaton Room preceding the concert in the Main Hall. Entrance to the concert is FREE! The Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts will join the BPO for an in depth side-by-side experience for the music department students, while also providing a showcase for all the disciplines at BAVPA including visual arts, media arts, drama and dance. Each year the BPO offers young and budding composers the opportunity to work directly with professional composers through residencies, professional development workshops and new music readings. Past guest composers have included John Corigliano, Roberto Sierra, Eric Ewazen, Robert Beaser, David Felder and Steven Stucky and many others.
Through partnerships with Canisius College, Buffalo State College, SUNY at Buffalo and SUNY at Fredonia, the Buffalo Philharmonic reaches out to young adults in a variety of programming. Students at ALL colleges are also eligible for special student pricing for all concerts. See Student Tickets.
