Community Spotlight 2011-12
Formerly known as Community Nights, Community Spotlight showcases school and community groups from across Western New York. All performances take place in the Mary Seaton Room prior to select BPO concerts throughout the season, and enable students the chance to perform at Kleinhans Music Hall, as well as hear the Buffalo Philharmonic perform. Family Concert Series
Bring your family to the BPO Family Concert Series on select Sunday afternoons at 2:30 PM. This series has something for everyone. This year the BPO is proud to announce unique collaborations with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Theatre of Youth on Family Sundays. Interactive theatre workshops from TOY, and hands-on activities from AKAG are added to the wildly popular Instrument ZOO before concerts. Experience the Instrument Zoo both before and after our March 25th Family Concert, A Family for Baby Grand. Children and adults of all ages can come play an instrument, watch demonstrations, and enjoy a hands-on experience making music! McClellan’s Music House and Buffalo Suzuki Strings generously provides instruments and expertise for this event.
West Side Connection - March 21st, 2012

The West Side Connection is a project involving the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and 11 Buffalo Public Schools located on the West Side. Through educational activities, guest artist visits and a special concert, this project celebrates through music the diversity found in the West Side schools that neighbor Kleinhans Music Hall. This year the program includes a collaboration with the African Dance and Drum Ensemble from the African American Cultural Center, and this year's Sphinx Competition junior division winner, Alexandra Alvarado Switalia.
Past guest artists have included Puerto Rican composer, Roberto Sierra, Junior Division Sphinx Competition winners Khari Joyner and Randal Goosby and the Phoenix Symphony's resident conductor, Joseph Young. For more information on this program, click the link above.
